Surfwood Mutual Water Corporation (SMWC) serves water to all of Surfwood Estates, which includes units 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Property owners in Surfwood Estates are shareholders in the SMWC. SMWC supplies water to members through community owned facilities that include a filtration plant, storage tanks, a pumphouse and associated distribution piping and meters. The SMWC is classified as a community public water system and operates under State of California domestic water supply permits.
The water system utilizes surface water from Jack Peters Creek as its source of supply. Source water is pumped into an 80,000 gallon raw water tank. Water then enters the treatment plant and is processed through two filtration trains and ultraviolet sterilizers. Treated water is stored in one steel tank and one redwood water tank for distributions to residents. An electronic management system continuously monitors the treatment process to ensure high quality water is delivered to Surfwood Estates residents.
The SMWC elects directors for two year terms at an annual meeting each August. The SMWC officers are a president, secretary, treasurer, vice president roads, and vice president water. All shareholders in good standing are eligible to serve on the SMWC Board.
